"Stories for Grownups" at Sanibel Public Library
"Stories for Grownups" meets at the Library on the first Friday of each month.
February's featured story teller is Dr. Sidney B. Simon, Professor Emeritus from the University of Massachusetts, and an internationally known authority in psychological education. Author or co-author of five books in the areas of values clarification, getting unstuck, and forgiveness, Simon is also the author of two childrens’ books, written for his own kids when they were little. W.W. Norton published the books in the late 60s.
Simon has appeared on various talk show programs, including "Oprah" and the "Donahue Show." Simon tells stories that are witty and wise, and also has the knack for drawing stories from people in the audience. Come and just listen, or see if one of Simon’s stories triggers one from your own life.
Simon’s stories aren’t fairy tales. His stories are often right out of his own life - growing older in Florida, parenting, grandparenting, memories of great teachers, and stories about what life has to teach us.
