DESCRIPTION:Hirdie Girdie Gallery's Featured Artist for January is David King.\n\nHe a self-taught watercolor artist\, specializing in nature's many moods. He started painting in 1967 while serving in the Air Force\, stationed in Wyoming. He experimented with many different media\, settling on transparent watercolors because of the challenge. After practicing dentistry in Michigan for 31 years\, he retired to Southwest Florida\, returning to Michigan in the summer to enjoy fishing\, hunting\, and traveling throughout the United States\, Canada\, and Alaska for inspiration\, concentrating on birds and animals in their habitat.  \n\nHe is an award winning artist\, having been invited to the Winners Circle Show of the Art Council of Southwest Florida\, poster artist for Art on the Rocks in Marquette\, Michigan\, and the Cape Coral Art Show. His most memorable experience was being accepted as Artist-in-Residence in Denali National Park\, Alaska\, where one of his paintings in on display at Eielson Visitors Center. \n\nMeet David at our January Reception\, and enjoy live music by Bob Housler\, wine and hors d'oeuvres with old and new friends!
