Book Talk: Protecting Sanibel & Captiva: The Conservation Story at Sanibel Library
Authors Charles LeBuff and Betty Anholt will present their collaborative book, "Protecting Sanibel and Captiva Islands: The Conservation Story," which was published in the fall of 2018.
LeBuff, who served as a refuge officer from 1958-1990, has also written "Images of America: J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge" and other books on island history.
Island historian Anholt authored an earlier book, titled "Sanibel's Story: Voices and Images from Calusa to Incorporation."
In recent years, the topic of conservation has been a major concern for many across the nation. But in the Sanibel and Captiva, conservation has been a focal point since its very first settlers arrived in the 19th century. In their new book, Betty Anholt & Charles LeBuff detail this long history of ecological preservation, and the incredible natural beauty of two of Florida’s barrier islands.
The public is invited to this Library Program. There is no registration required and no additional cost to participate.
