Dover Quartet with Peter Serkin
The phenomenal Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition. Recently named the Cleveland Quartet Award winner, and awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Dover has become one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The Quartet’s rise from up-and-coming young ensemble to occupying a spot at the top of their field has been practically meteoric. With its burnished warmth, incisive rhythms, and natural phrasing, it has all critics raving. Dover is the quartet-in-residence for the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.
“The Dover Quartet is the young American string quartet of the moment”
The New Yorker
It is an honor to welcome back renowned pianist, Peter Serkin, to the BIG ARTS stage. Peter has collaborated with, among many others, Yo-Yo Ma, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, András Schiff, and the Budapest Quartet. He has taught at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music and is on faculty at the Bard College Conservatory of Music as well as other institutions.
“Peter Serkin is one of the handful of pianist who not only possesses a cerebral understanding of the music of our time, but the ability to communicate it with feeling. In his hands, even the most formidable works are fluid and expressive.”
