F.I.S.H. OF SANCAP Community Presentation ‘Scams, Safety and Identity Theft…Don’t Be the Next Victim’

Peggy Lince, Crime Prevention Specialist, Lee County Sheriff’s Office will discuss how individuals can keep their information safe from identity theifs.  She will explain the latest scams and discuss tips on how to avoid becoming prey to these devious schemes.  Scam artists are far too clever in establishing a connection with individuals with the sole intent of stealing our identity.  By attending this very important seminar, participants will become educated about these crimes and the many others that are disrupting lives.

“We should all be in a “high alert” mode in reference to the very savvy identity theft and scams taking place,” states Kathy Y. Monroe, Program Director, FISH.  “All ages are being preyed upon, and all should be cautious when answering phone calls or responding to texts and electronic mail from unknown numbers and addresses.  Scam artists are so clever in trying to establish a connection to make us think we know them.  Keep in mind, if you have not played the lottery, you cannot win the lottery.  If a relative calls and is in a situation and needs money, call them or someone else close to them before sending money.  The Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration will not call and ask for payments on gift cards.  Let’s learn how we can educate ourselves against these crimes and many others that can change our lives.”
