FISH OF SANCAP Hosts Tax Return Preparation
The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers tax assistance for qualified taxpayers. Households who make $66,000 or less and who need assistance in preparing their tax returns qualify for the VITA program. These households may have their returns completed and filed for them at no cost.
Beginning Friday, February 7, VITA will offer tax preparation, by appointment, at the F.I.S.H. Walk-In Center, 2430 Periwinkle Way Suite B, Sanibel, from 9 a.m.—1.p.m. Additional appointment times are February 14, 21 and 28; and Friday, April 3.
VITA preparers are IRS certified trained volunteers that can inform taxpayers about special tax credits that may be applicable such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for Elderly or the Disabled. Those wishing to have their tax return completed through the VITA Program must bring the following:
- Photo identification
- Social security cards for you, your spouse and your dependents
- All wage and tax statements, including Forms W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, SSA-1099
- Interest and dividend statements
- Last year’s tax return
- Any other tax documents you received
Note: If you are filing a joint return, both you and your spouse must be present.
