Smugglers Cruise & Outlaws of the Everglades Film Showing

Set sail on history, mystery, and true Florida grit! On Saturday, January 31, 2026, join us for a one-of-a-kind Smugglers Cruise & Screening of Outlaws of the Everglades — a memorable evening blending scenic coastal cruising with an exclusive outdoor film experience at Cabbage Key.
This unique event departs Captiva Island at 4:30 PM, cruising to the historic island retreat of Cabbage Key. Kent Daniels, former smuggler, and Brian Holaway, Producer of Outlaws Of The Everglades, share stories on this exclusive cruise. Upon arrival, attendees will enjoy an outdoor screening at 6:30 PM of Outlaws of the Everglades, a powerful documentary capturing the untold story of Florida’s legendary watermen and their drastic turn into smuggling amid economic hardship.
Outlaws of the Everglades goes beyond conventional history: it is a first-hand account of one of the largest smuggling operations in U.S. history, told by the men and families who lived it. When federal fishing restrictions in the 1970s challenged local livelihoods, some fishermen masters of the tides and terrain were pushed into marijuana smuggling to survive.
The film features captivating interviews and personal stories from figures such as Kent Daniels and other members of the Daniels Family, Floridian watermen whose heritage in the region stretches back generations. Their stories illuminate a world of grit, loyalty, survival, and deep connection to the Everglades’ waters with perspectives never before publicly shared.
