Join manatee expert Fred Rubino for an update about manatees in southwest Florida.
Fred Rubino is a Florida Master Naturalist-UFL, and part of the Florida Wildlife Commission's Manatee Rescue Team. He is also a presenter at Lee County Manatee Park.
He review the evolution of the Sirenia, origins of the species, and its biological relatives. Topics also include manatee anatomy, pressures on the population, conservation efforts and rescue operations.
Rubino will show photographs, video and sound clips, and share hands-on exhibits of manatee skeletal parts. Some of the photos will depict serious injuries to manatees and may not be appropriate for children.
The public is invited to this Library Program. There is no registration required and no additional cost to participate.
