WWII-Guadalcanal Campaign, Program at Sanibel Public Library
The Guadalcanal Campaign - 10 AM Friday, February 23, 2024
From August 7, 1942 to February 9, 1943, American forces were pitted against the Japanese in a bitter life or death struggle for the mastery of Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. When it was over, the U.S. had lost 7,000 dead but it was clear that the tide was turning against the Japanese Empire.
SPL's Duane E. Shaffer discusses the strategy and tactics of this important battle.
