It's the tenth anniversary of the Sanibel Sunset Detective novels and Ron will provide an overview of his books. \n\n \n\nHe will also have copies of his newest book for sale at this book signing.\n\n\n\nThe public is invited to this Library Program. There is no registration required and no additional cost to participate.\n\n \nAbout the Author:\n\nRon Base worked as a reporter for several newspapers including the Toronto Sunday Sun and Toronto Star. His stories have appeared in such publications as the Washington Post\, New York Newsday\, The New York Post\, Chicago Tribune\, The Miami Herald\, and the Los Angeles Times.\n\nHe hosted a syndicated radio show\, "Marquee Magazine at the Movies" and also co-hosted "The Movie Show" with Alex Barris for TV Ontario. He also appeared frequently on the CTV network's Canada AM to talk about movies.\n\nBase's first novel was "Matinee Idol." He co-produced and wrote a thriller\, "White Light"\, which was directed by Al Waxman and starring Martin Kove. The film played theatrically in Canada. He also worked with David Haslam\, publisher of Marquee Magazine\, to produce a number of movie-oriented books\, including "Marquee's Guide to the Movies on Video"\, and "Starring Roles\," published in the United States as "If The Other Guy Isn't Jack Nicholson\, I've Got The Part."\n\nHe lived in Paris for a time where he co-wrote "Jesuit Joe\," based on a famous French comic book. The movie was shot in Canada and released in France and Europe.\n\nin 2001\, Base co-wrote "The Last Sign\," a Canada-France co-production that starred Andie McDowell.\n\nHis "Magic Man" novel was published by St. Martin's Press\, New York\, in 2005.\n\nSince then\, he's concentrated on novels\, writing "The Strange" in 2009. He published "The Sanibel Sunset Detective" then "The Sanibel Sunset Detective Returns" in 2011. The next year he published "Another Sanibel Sunset Detective\," followed by "The Two Sanibel Sunset Detectives" in 2013.\n\nHis next Tree Callister novel\, "The Hound of the Sanibel Sunset Detective" was published in 2014\, followed by "The Four Wives of the Sanibel Sunset Detective\," "Heart of the Sanibel Sunset Detective" in 2016\, and "The Sanibel Sunset Detective Goes to London."\n\n"Bring Me the Head of the Sanibel Sunset Detective\," the eleventh in the series\, was published in 2019.\n\n\n\nBase and his wife currently live in the town of Milton\, outside of Toronto\, but he spends as much time on Sanibel as he can.
