Physical Plant Coordinator

Job Purpose
The Physical Plant Coordinator works closely with and reports to the Director of Facilities and Events. This position entails the maintenance, preventative and reactive, of multiple facilities for the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems including scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Basic carpentry and repairs of facilities including drywall repair, door/window installation, painting, and flooring as needed.
  • Help with special group projects including directing others for special events and occasional one-off projects.
  • Respond to and prioritize requests for maintenance through software and maintaining work order software.
  • Ensuring safety and efficient operations across multiple facilities in a number of different settings.
  • Able to respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours as needed.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with volunteers and donors.
 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in property maintenance, construction, or a related trade.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance techniques.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues.
Physical requirement
Must be able to lift 50 lb and have physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.
