Senior Services and Community Engagement Director

Position Summary: F.I.S.H is seeking a creative, result-oriented Senior Services and Community Engagement Director with experience in human and social services. This position oversees programs related to seniors/aging in addition to community outreach and education functions on behalf of F.I.S.H. The Director will ensure that F.I.S.H. senior-focused and educational programs continue to grow in number of clients served and quality of programs being offered to the islands. He or she will play an integral role in revitalizing key programs by eliminating unproductive services and co-creating and managing new initiatives.

This position is based on Sanibel Island.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Community Engagement

-Establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders throughout the islands raise awareness of FISH programs to potential clients, volunteers, and community partners.
-Maintain a positive agency image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations. 
-Develop educational workshops throughout the year on various topics affecting members of the Sanibel and Captiva community. In addition to socialization programs such as our monthly Friendly Faces luncheon and annual Senior Expo.
-Coordinate volunteers in various capacities pertaining to senior, educational, and hurricane preparedness programs. Additionally, oversee volunteers who represent F.I.S.H. at various community events. Senior Services
-Work with Executive Director to evaluate current senior programs in addition to identifying opportunities for program/service expansion.  -Proactively engage with community members, volunteers, and leaders in order to identify and address issues pertaining to aging on Sanibel and Captiva, broadly as well as related to individuals that could benefit from F.I.S.H. services. Additionally, run regular community focus groups. Administrative and Management Duties
-Oversee Social Services Assistant as well as working with and managing several volunteers
-Develop and manage department budget with oversight from Executive Director
-Collect and monitor data and information relative to department such as demographic information, attendance, and participation rates. Ideal Experience and Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree required, master’s strongly preferred, in social work, gerontology or closely related field.
-Experience working with seniors and developing and implementing programs for senior and multi-generational populations.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to maintain records and use case management software.
-Strong written and oral communication skills; including experience with public speaking.
-Bilingual (Spanish), preferred
-Five or more years experience in related field.
-Team leadership in a transparent and professional manner.
-Strong general management skills including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
-Experience managing and engaging with diverse volunteer and donor groups.
